Plastic hanging from underneath front of Ford Fiesta?
Whilst parking up in a tricky space earlier in a car park I only slightly bumped into the barrier in front, it was nothing major or bad just a little bump and there seemed to be no damage done. After driving home on the motorway and parking up I noticed a bar of plastic that was damaged and hanging underneath the front of my car. I took a photo which is attached, I'm not great with cars so could anybody tell me what is wrong, whether it's urgent and how to fix it /how much it would be? It's hanging about 2 inches from the floor and isn't causing any issues at the moment. The car is a 09 Ford Fiesta style+.
It's probably a part to cover the metal area, as shown in the photo… Maybe something to do with protection of the radiator
It is called an air dam splitter or splash guard. If it is not broken you can put it back on. It will be held in place with plastic rivets or screws. It is not a part they you have to replace if you do not want to. I would see if I could put it back in place.
It's an engine under cover or splash shield. They're held in places by screws and clips or some other replaceable fastening system on most vehicles. You may have to raise the vehicle up slightly to be able to see how it is fastened but assuming it's not cracked or broken, it should be an easy fix.
This is something you need to repair yourself. At the hardware store get some large sheet metal screws (self-tapping) . Borrow a cordless drill and bit. Pop some holes into both the air dam and the material behind it. Attach screws every few inches. If you take this to a shop, they will replace the entire unit. And don't be surprised if they charge you over $200 for the repair. Thats why you need to get this car up on ramps, fix it yourself.
- Why is the Fuel Tank underneath the back seat inside the cabin on the Nissan Altima? Shouldn't the gas tank be located underneath on the outside of the car? Why does Nissan put it inside? Isn't that dangerous? It's like Ford Pinto all over again.
- Rattle noise when I accelerate. Sounds like plastic hitting a fan? I have a 2003 Ford Focus. Just recently every time I accelerate I hear this rattle noise. The best way to describe it is when you take a piece of plastic and put it to a fan. Or take a baseball card to a bike tire. My check engine light came on and when I had that checked they said it's either the gas cap or I have a very small leak. Could these be connected? Car also makes that sound when I first turn it on.
- 2014 Ford Focus - Plastic Part in front of Mirror? A little plastic piece on the exterior of my 2014 Ford Focus fell off. It's the triangular plastic piece that's in front of the side view mirror. I've circled it in the picture.
