I put my car into park while moving?

I know this can really mess up your transmission. It's the second time I've done it. Both times I've been moving slow, probably 10 mph. A guy drive by me fast and made me spill food in the floor. So I went to stop and I thought I was stopped and accidentally switched to park. I heard a few clicking sounds, but I drove home okay and my brakes seem to be working fine. I have a 2012 ford fiesta. If that helps. I think some cars have built In things to kind of prevent damage from this? Please tell me what to do. I don't want any part of my car to be damaged.

First thing to do is stop eating while you're driving and concentrate on the road around you. Then you won't be surprised when passed by another vehicle.

The worst that will happen is that you'll break the parking sprag so that when it's in P it can still roll the same as it would in N. Eating while driving is as or more dangerous than driving and texting or driving while drinking.

The COMPUTER actually controls the automatic transmission. It is smart enough NOT to actually engage 'park' while the vehicle is moving.
