Airbag light on, steering wheel controls not working, and horn not working. Covered under warranty?
I have a 2016 ford fiesta with about 13000 miles. Last night when i was driving home from work, i noticed that my steering wheel controls were not working, nor were they lit up. I can hear a crackling sound when turning the steering wheel. Today when i started my car, the airbag light was on and the horn is no longer working. I'm guessing the clockspring somehow got damaged. Is this covered under the warranty? The car is 10 days away from being a year old.
Added (1). If it's not covered under warranty, how much would it cost to get fixed? I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow.
Make a service appointment for warranty repair.
Should be covered under your bumper to bumper warranty. Usually caused by a bad clockspring under steering wheel
When you take it to the dealer tell them the SRS airbag light is on and the horn quit working. You likely have what is called a bad clockspring in the steering column. The airbag system is covered for 7 years and should be warranty. If you complain more about the stereo controls not working they may not cover the repair under warranty even though it is probably the same part that's bad. Focus on the airbag.
- Why do some companies like Ford have a 5year warranty and others like Hyundai have a 10year warranty? Does the company with the longer warranty trust in their product longer? Or they know that the owner will have to do a ton of repairs and without a back up no one would ever buy them?
- Battery light came on in my car and steering wheel locked but the car was still running what could it be? I drive a 1999 Ford Taurus I was pulling out of a parking lot and the battery symbol popped up and my steering wheel locked but the car didn't shut off. I applied the breaks slowly and the battery symbol went away and my steering wheel unlocked. I do believe I have some issues with the "computer" in the car i was wondering if this was the cause
- 1995 Ford Taurus with a steering issue. When I turn the steering wheel to a certain spot left or right it will start moving back and forth? According to previous owner the rack and pinion was previously replaced. Steering wheel Is off a little to the right. Any ideas?
- If it's covered in my warranty, can I get it done in the same day? I bought a used car from Carmax. I got their full coverage, but I got to pay $300 for their deductible. But at ford, the make of my car, my car is still coverd under the factory warranty. I need multiple things done to my car. Wheel bearings, brakes, air filter, Microsoft sync firmware update, and an oil change. Can I get that stuff done? I can't find what the rules of the coverage. Hence why I'm asking. Please and thanks.
