If it's covered in my warranty, can I get it done in the same day?
I bought a used car from Carmax. I got their full coverage, but I got to pay $300 for their deductible. But at ford, the make of my car, my car is still coverd under the factory warranty. I need multiple things done to my car. Wheel bearings, brakes, air filter, Microsoft sync firmware update, and an oil change. Can I get that stuff done? I can't find what the rules of the coverage. Hence why I'm asking. Please and thanks.
Hi warranty can only be carried out by the manufacturers dealers. So you can't touch the car or it's mechanisms. It can't be done in a day and instantly either.
Not unless you setup an appointment in advance to make sure they have all the parts and drop it off when they open. This sounds like a 1-3 day job.
Prepare to shell out some cash. The wheel bearings are not covered by factory warranty in most cases and depending on the year and make of the vehicle. The only thing on that list that might be covered is the firmware update. But I would not bet on that.
Unless Carmax states in their warranty that they cover the rest, then you are going to have to pay for everything on the list.
The only thing you listed that may be covered by any warranty is the wheel bearings. The rest of your list is considered wear items that are normal maintenance. Congratulations… You get sucked into an expensive warranty scam by a salesman!
Air filter brakes and an oil change are wear and tear items not covered.
Wheel bearings may be depending on your location. Software updates are sometimes but not always covered. Did you not get it serviced as part of the deal from Carnax?
They probably can't do all of that in one day, PERIOD. Warranty coverage has NOTHING to do with how long it actually takes to do the work.
The only thing that would be covered under warranty would be the wheel bearings, all others are ware and tare items, As for your SYNC Ford can most likely do it for you for a small fee, provided you have a paid subscription of course, But you could do it yourself for free, all you need is a USB drive and follow the instructions on the SYNC software updates page. For what you have listed I see no reason why it couldn't be done in one day, The PM service only takes a few minutes provided its not its 100k service, in which case the sparkplugs will need to be changed, still doesn't take that long, and a brake and wheel bearing job really doesn't take that long to do, you need to remember that most techs work on a flat rate, meaning that if the books states it takes 3 hours and they can do it in two they still get paid for 3
IF the car has less than 60,000 miles on the odometer Ford should pay for everything but the oil change and air filter.
These items are not cover by the warranty they are parts that wear out. These are your resposnsibility, .
- Why do some companies like Ford have a 5year warranty and others like Hyundai have a 10year warranty? Does the company with the longer warranty trust in their product longer? Or they know that the owner will have to do a ton of repairs and without a back up no one would ever buy them?
- If you have a car accident with a borrowed car, whose insurance are you covered by? Okay, my dad just totaled my grandma's 1999 Ford Taurus wagon. He was trying to turn and we hit a Nissan Frontier. The Nissan was fine, but the Ford is totaled, and my dad has never been in accident like this ever before. Does this go under my dad's insurance or my grandma's? She did give him the permission to drive it.
- I took my truck my truck to ford to fix a very loud noise and when I Get it back same its the same? - How much does it cost to get timing chain done? Recently we bought a car 08 ford crown victoria at a car auction. It had a blown head gasket and we had a friend fix it for us, he put it all together and now car won't start. He thinks he did the timing chain wrong. Was wondering how much it would cost to take it to an actual mechanic to redo the timing chain. Also he thinks one of the heads are bad so how much would that cost as well?
