Battery light came on in my car and steering wheel locked but the car was still running what could it be?

I drive a 1999 Ford Taurus I was pulling out of a parking lot and the battery symbol popped up and my steering wheel locked but the car didn't shut off. I applied the breaks slowly and the battery symbol went away and my steering wheel unlocked. I do believe I have some issues with the "computer" in the car i was wondering if this was the cause

Wow, that sounds like it could be dangerous. It does sound like a computer problem. Any auto repair shop, and even some auto parts stores can hook up a diagnostics machine to your car and tell you what's wrong with it.
You should probably get it checked out right away. The computer in my Nissan acted funny for awhile, but I put off getting it checked out… Until it quit completely which resulted in an expensive tow.Lesson learned.

Sounds more like your accessory belt was slipping temporarily. You should still get it checked.

Your serpentine belt (accessory belt) started slipping and stop driving the alternator and power steering pump. It happens to me sometimes. Check the tensioner on the belt. If it has froze up and no longer keeps tension on the belt, it will slip.

Take it to Ford

Probably a bad key ignition lock. The computer issue is a serious problem. It should be checked out. I wouldn't trust that vehicle going down the road.
