Does anyone know if the Toyota quality myth is true? Also, are reliability problems with ford f150's common?
You can go to the library and ask to see the "Consumer Reports" - and they'll have the history of how the Toyotas have held up over the past 5 to 10 years.
Toyotas are cars that last forever, i **** you not. Fords all have transmission issues and don't last. So yes to the 2nd part. My explorer, f150chasis, and other people I know who have had them all have replaced the transmission around 70,000 miles.
Our Toyota SR5 long bed from 1974? Over 300,000 miles and still runs good. We take it out on the dirt roads even., so
No car brand is 100% reliable, but Toyota and Honda are consistently on the top of the reliability list.
Ford isn't the worst, in spite of how people portray them, but not the best either.
But put it this way, you don't see Toyota's dropping spark plugs and needing new transmissions at 70k miles? A F150 is supposed to be a big tough truck, but on average it's not as reliable as a boring little Corolla or Civic.
- Why can't Ford have the same quality as Toyota does? What are they doing wrong? I have to drive and maintain a Ford for work. Constant wiring, fuel pump relay, gaskets, water pump, and other issues. Many Toyotas are problem free other than maintenance. How does this happen?
- What common problems do Ford Rangers have? I'm looking into buying a used Ford Ranger (2000 or newer) but I've heard that certain years have head gasket, clutch and transmission problems. I've read 2002 Rangers are known for warped head gaskets. Any other years I should avoid?
- What are the common problems does a ford mustang gt have? I'm tryng to buy a ford mustang gt 2002 and i want to know if those cars are bad or not and if the parts are expensive and if they waste to much gas
- How is ford as compared to toyota/honda, in terms of reliability? I have always heard people saying that toyota (camry) and honda (accord) are really good cars in terms of reliability, less frequency of needing repairs and they can very easily cross 200,000 mile mark. But, does any one know how are Fords (fusion) when it comes to frequency of needing repairs and crossing 200k miles mark?
