How is ford as compared to toyota/honda, in terms of reliability?

I have always heard people saying that toyota (camry) and honda (accord) are really good cars in terms of reliability, less frequency of needing repairs and they can very easily cross 200,000 mile mark.

But, does any one know how are Fords (fusion) when it comes to frequency of needing repairs and crossing 200k miles mark?

Ford makes a very good car that lasts

Not as good

Toyota is renowned for reliability and cheap repair, even if they don't have the top-of-the-line performance other brands have. Honda engines are also very reliable, Ford tends to focus too much on horsepower and torque, and never enough on suspension or drivetrains.

Toyota has cheap reliability. But don't expect for long lasting. Hondas last a long time also. But me being american, I buy american cars. Also being ford don't take bailouts. I currently own 3 rangers. 1989, 1986, 1998. 86 has 200k original motor and trans. My 98 has 250 original engine and trans. 89 has 73k orginal.

You want a cheap car that you won't have to dump money into in 5 years if new. Buy a ford focus. Wanna buy cheap to get by for a few years and trade it in buy Honda. Best bang for the buck. American made all the way.

Still driving a 1966 Ford Mustang, replaced engine once at 200,000 miles, replaced numerous parts in its history. Now it drives like new. You can't do that with a Toyota or even find the parts.

Honda and Toyota have the edge when it comes to reliability but Ford has closed the gap considerably in the last few years and the difference is very small on a 2014 car. Do not hesitate to buy a Ford if that is what you like. Ford makes very reliable cars that you can depend on to give you years of good service.

For the record most "American" car companies like Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge etc. Use FOREIGN parts in there cars. So in terms of this being a battle of buying "American cause your American" that idea is not relevant. The name may be American but that's about the only thing! Otherwise a used 2013 Ford Fusion would cost $50,000 rather than $20,000.

So your question now, Toyota and Honda have been praised on many levels mostly due to there constant success in terms of long lasting cars with general maintenance. All cars have problems and all cars will break down if they aren't taken care of properly. But Toyota and Honda are very good when it comes to not charging you for repairs when it's the vehicle and not the driver at fault.

Consumer Reviews is a great little tool (the book) to use when trying to find a reliable car.

I highly recommend Toyota, Honda, Scion, Lexus, Acura, Subaru, Mazda and Hyundai (because of there 100,000 10 year warranty)
