Yes. Flush it. Then flush it again. Then again. Then hope nothing goes wrong.
No same thing work at ford motor company at one time we use dextron 2 for power steering fluid don't know what is being used now
Actually per the owners manual, for power steering fluid, Mercon ATF is specified as the correct fluid. Check out page 277 of the owner's manual

- When changing the power steering pump on a KA (54) can you use PTFE tape to seal the pressure line from pump? I have changed the power steering pump on a ford KA (54) and when removing the pressure line from the pump there was some kind of seal on it but I don't know what it was, so I was hopping that PTFE tape would do the same job at sealing the thread. Any help please. Andy.
- I have a 2004 Ford F150 and when the weather warms up the power steering stops working? When the weather is cold the power steering works fine but when the weather starts to warm up the power steering stops working the belt looks fine but if the pump was bad then why is power steering working just fine in the winter time
- Ford f150 2007- making a whining noise, I have replaced power steering pump? I was told by a shade tree mechanic that there was air in the lines, bc while it's running the fluid level in canister is moving around a good bit. What's the line i need to break to drain fluid out completely
- Bad Belt Tensioner and Idler Pulley or Power Steering Pump? So I have a whine that goes with the RPM and I've seen a video on Youtube of a Ford f150 with a bad Idler Pulley and Belt Tensioner showing the exact same behavior. I'm considering just replacing those two things right now, my power steering pump seems to be functioning okay but has issues with binding at times; but it's never been hard to turn. He then replaced the Tensioner and Idler Pulley and the noise disappeared entirely.
