How much does it cost for new brakes?
Assuming i would need new brakes on all four wheels and i was going to use a mechanic, what would an average price be? I drive a 2001 ford f150.
Pads cost between $15 and $90 per set. You need two sets for the whole vehicle so somewhere between $30 and $180. If you want parking brake shoes that's another $20.
If the rotors are damaged they can cost anywhere from $30 to over $100 a piece. So if you need 4 because you damaged them it could be anywhere from between $120 to over $400 for rotors.
Any other part such as brake cylinders, lines, hardware or ABS components could cost more.
Then if you take it somewhere there's the labor fee. Just to check them could be anywhere between $20 to $60 depending on where you go and where you live. Some places may charge more than that to do the actual work. If you do it yourself the labor is basically free.
