How much would it cost to get a new valve cover gasket put in?
My car is leaking oil from the valve cover and it's burning on the exhaust. It smells really bad so I wanna get it fixed. I bought the new gasket about a year ago, but I don't have the time, or know how to put it in. How much can I expect to pay to have someone put the gasket in for me? Also how long of a job is it? I can't go that long without my car. It's a 2002 Ford Focus ZTS with 150000 miles on it.
If you can hold a wrench (or socket wrench) you can change the valve cover gasket. It's just a matter of removing the bolts (or nuts) that hold it on. After you remove it clean both surfaces and install with the new gasket. It should take you about 30 minutes.
So - they'll replace the valve cover gasket when they replace the head gasket you said you needed yesterday.
Installing a valve cover gasket isn't hard if you have the tools. A mechanic could do it in less than an hour.
- Is it possible to get a new transmission for an older car, if so, how much would it cost? I'm looking at buying a 2003 Ford Taurus with 85,000 miles on it. No, there are no transmission problems. I'm just thinking that if it were done now, that could add a lot of life onto the vehicle. And it would make sense because my estimate is that a new transmission is less that what this car is worth. The car is 5K.

- How much does it cost to fix a broken tail light cover? I accidentally backed up into a light pole and cracked the bottom half of my passenger side tail light. I drive a 2011 jeep liberty and i got it from a ford dealership. I pay for the insurance where if anything goes wrong with my car i can bring it in and they fix it for free but i'm not sure if that applies for a broken tail light? So if it doesn't, how much does it cost to get a new cover?
