Alternatives to carpet in the car?
I just recently bought a 1987 ford f150 and though it a very soils truck mechanically and cosmetically; the carpet is an extreme eye sore with it being extremely worn to the point that fibers are missing, oil stains, and plenty of cigarette burns. I was wondering if there were any cheap alternatives that I can do?
Bare metal or add some rubber mats, the carpet is an upscale choice and a total waste for a working truck.
Rubber floor mats. I work in a lot of dirt and stuff and get mud on my boots, so i just cut some of that artificial outdoor grass rugs into squares for my floorboards. The bristles are stiff and get any dirt and mud off, and you can just take a hose to it. Looks kinda cool in my opinion, but everyone's different.
Back in the 1950's the cars didn't have carpeting. Only the upscale cars had carpeting back then. Most cars had rubber mats that covered the entire floor.
You can spray the floor with rubber coating compounds, then put floor mats over it. Or you could get carpet scraps from a home floor covering store and cut them to fit your cars floor.
Rubber floor mats is what i'd suggest… The have them where you can order them for your model car or truck JC whitney
I've seen a few trucks whose interiors were Rhino lined, and they looked pretty good. Get the job done by a good company and you can usually have a tinted coating applied so it will look, if not factory, then at least not bad.
For a modicum of luxury beyond that, add vinyl floor mats to help quell the noise and you're good to go.

- Battery light came on in my car and steering wheel locked but the car was still running what could it be? I drive a 1999 Ford Taurus I was pulling out of a parking lot and the battery symbol popped up and my steering wheel locked but the car didn't shut off. I applied the breaks slowly and the battery symbol went away and my steering wheel unlocked. I do believe I have some issues with the "computer" in the car i was wondering if this was the cause
- What car should I get for my first car? I'm 16 and about to buy my first car. I'm thinking about getting a 94 Ford Ranger (120k miles) with lifted suspension, off road tires, and a prerunner bumper. Would this be a reliable car throughout my high school years? Should I get that or should I just get a 2 door coupe?
- Is getting a lot of miles on a car actually bad for the car if the car is well taken care of? Back story: I have been using my car to visit a guy who lives about an hour away from me, and my mother has said that I "don't need to be putting all those miles" on my car. It is a well-taken care of Ford mustang with about 125,000 miles on it, and I have not noticed any issues at all. Cars are meant to be driven, in my mind. Is putting mileage on a care actually a bad thing, or is mother probably pulling an overprotective mother of an adult child?
