2008 Ford F150 stalls after driving a mile down the road?

So today I was trying to start my truck up, I turned the key and the truck just kept cranking and wouldn't start.
I kept cranking (giving a few taps on the gas) and finally started. I left it running for roughly 3 mins to get ready to head to work. Truck didn't feel rough anything before it stalled after driving about 1-2 miles up the road. I pull to the side of the road, try to crank over again, nothing. I called my parents for help, and my father should up to try and jump it. While I waited for him to come, I tried starting it, it started, but died seconds later. I waited for him, jumped the truck and it worked as I kept jump cables on. I checked the belts and coils and wires. Engine was dry, reason why I say dry is because there was a heavy storm the previous day and lots of water pedals (which I avoided much as possible). My father drove the truck back, he made it about a mile up the road and truck died after taking a turn. He cranked the truck and started and drove it up the road to my house.

Check engine light came on, I don't have a scan tool and can't really afford to buy one or visit a mechanic for help. We do plan on trying to diagnose this alone if possible.

Weather is pretty bad right now here in Michigan, everyday its raining and streets are flooded with water.

Not sure if my exhaust vacuum hose clogged up a lot of water for it to constantly stall. I had this problem before, just had to vacuum it back out.

Its a 5.4L v8 engine, gasoline engine.

If water got into the engine it could cause this or even the electronics got wet like the computer it could be shorting out

WHERE in MICHIGAN are you then! Go to AUTO ZONE fro a FREE SCAN JOB! I tend to think a DIRTY IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE< but they do NOT usually trigger the CEL light to come on! BYE NOW!

08 is probably the worst year for a domestic make, I'd sell it while it's still worth something and get a new 150

  • 2007 ford focus on a 2000 mile road trip? I'm planning a road trip from Southwest Missouri to Upstate New York, I currently drive a 2007 Ford Focus. I recently had new tires, brakes, tension pulley, and serpentine belt put on as well as an oil change. My steering column does tend to shake when my car is going 60+ MPH but its never out of control. Will my car be reliable enough to last through the trip? driving a 2007 ford focus with 130k miles on a 2000 mile road trip?
  • 2004-2008 Ford F150 vs 2004-2008 Dodge Ram 1500? I have been wanting to know which of these two trucks should I get? I watch videos on them but as I read the comments the controversy between the people are just left and right, "dodge is better, ford is better" but they never give an explanation why. So which truck is more reliable and why?
