1991 f150 E40D transmission leak?

I have a 1991 ford f150 4x4 and i noticed a small oil stain on the concrete and i first thought it was engine oil, turns out its tranny fluid! Looked under i noticed a crack in the front side of the transmission, i'm not sure if thats where it could be from but the transmission shifts good but the only problem is that when i select OD on the shifter it won't move (sometimes) but works perfect when shifted on D. Its hardly leaking just a drop here and there. What could this be?1991 f150 E40D transmission leak

On the other side of that crack is the torque converter, so either a transmission fluid leak meaning front seal of the transmission. Or the rear main seal of the engine either way the transmission has to come out for either seal to be replaced. Keep an eye on both fluids. That crack goes further than it is now that case will have to be replaced

  • Should I use lucas transmission stop leak? I have a 1978 Ford ranchero that has a couple minor leaks in the tranny and I was wondering if it's safe to use this lucas stuff on my tranny?
  • Is it ok to drive a car with a transmission fluid leak for a week before getting fixed? I have a 2007 ford ranger with only 38k miles on it, recenntly I have been having minor delays when shifting into drive from reverse before it catches and I actually move forward. So i checked my transmission fluid which seems to be pretty low a good amount below the cross hatched area. So I added more fluid and then saw some leak onto the garage floor within 30mins. I have not seen any leak before, could i still drive it before i get it fixed next week without causing more damage?
  • My 2000 Ford Windstar has a coolant leak. What could be causing it to leak? It has two leaks. One is from the passenger side near the front tire and the second is right below the driver's seat. I have to replace the coolant after I have had the heater on for a bit. I never have it on for more than 15 min. Not because the coolant runs out in that time but I just don't use it for long. I took it to the mechanic and he stated it was the "lower intake manifold gasket". I'm asking if anyone has any other ideas because that repair is pretty pricey.
