Should I use lucas transmission stop leak?

I have a 1978 Ford ranchero that has a couple minor leaks in the tranny and I was wondering if it's safe to use this lucas stuff on my tranny?

On a '78 model? Sure. Worst it will do is not stop the leak. That's such an easy tranny to rebuild though I would just drop it out and rebuild it. Will cost you about $200 in parts, unless you can find good used parts from a transmission shop, then you can get most of what you need for $75 and then the seals you pay $25 at NAPA. A done deal for $100 and a days fun.

Yes, it will work if the leaks aren't too bad. I use it on the farm by the gallons. I have a 78 Ranchero also. You probably have the FMX tranny. It will work good in the power steering on the Ranchero too.

No you should not use it. Ask any mechanic. Look. The answer is simple. It has a minor leak so check it on a schedule determined by rate at which it leaks and add more fluid.

I bought a 4 door, straight 6 cylinder 72 maverick for $500, (it wasn't runnin is why it was so cheap), just got it runnin, (i replace the fuel filter & fuel pump), it needs an oil change and it need transmission fluid and i wanna know what type of oil and transmission fluid to buy for it
  • My radio won't stop scanning, doesn't stop on any station, why? It's a stock 93 Ford Taurus radio, only am fm and cassette, cassettes work but I don't want to use. How can I get my radio to work again? My antennae was loose but I tightened it but it still won't work!
  • Is it ok to drive a car with a transmission fluid leak for a week before getting fixed? I have a 2007 ford ranger with only 38k miles on it, recenntly I have been having minor delays when shifting into drive from reverse before it catches and I actually move forward. So i checked my transmission fluid which seems to be pretty low a good amount below the cross hatched area. So I added more fluid and then saw some leak onto the garage floor within 30mins. I have not seen any leak before, could i still drive it before i get it fixed next week without causing more damage?
  • My 2000 Ford Windstar has a coolant leak. What could be causing it to leak? It has two leaks. One is from the passenger side near the front tire and the second is right below the driver's seat. I have to replace the coolant after I have had the heater on for a bit. I never have it on for more than 15 min. Not because the coolant runs out in that time but I just don't use it for long. I took it to the mechanic and he stated it was the "lower intake manifold gasket". I'm asking if anyone has any other ideas because that repair is pretty pricey.
