Will ethanol not be good for my 1996 ford explorer engine?
Ethanol can 'eat' some gaskets & 'rubber' O-rings in the fuel system & the engine, & current cars have been designed to use it with no problems. But, no idea about your '96. Best call a Ford garage & find out…
It can't tolerate anything more than 10%, which is the way most gasoline comes.
Yours is designed for using 10% ethanol as are virtually all engines built in the last 20/25 years.
- Will a 2005 Ford Explorer 4.0 v6 engine go into a 99 ford ranger, if not what small trucks will it work with? I just had to rebuild the engine in my 2005 Ford Explorer 4.0 v6. Was wanting to know if it could go into a 99 ford ranger, if not what small trucks or cars are interchangeable?
- My 1996 ford ranger will not start right away after filling up with gas? I turn the key and the starter just keeps trying to catch but engine never does. I've replaced the fuel filter, fuel lines and sensor in the fuel tank. Spark plugs and wires, alternator, timing belt, starter and battery are all less than a year old. I don't let the gas tank get below a quarter of a tank.
- 1996 ford ranger gas gauge not working? Alright… My gas gauge sets right at the top of the E when moving, but when i turn the vehicle off, it will read right under the quarter tank line, than right back to E when it gets turned back on. Would this lean more to the sending unit in the tank or a bad gauge? Fuse is good. Figured i would rather ask before trying either option.
