What year Focus? The new one looks amazing for it's class. If it's new your looking at rivals would be Hyundai and Kia which now have good reputations and make decent cars with long warranties and of course VW.
The dual clutch auto transmissions have been problematic if you get one that does not have that transmission it is a better choice - I have 2018 6sp 1.0l turbo that expect will be a very good choice. My previous car as a 2000 Focus with the 2l Zetec 5 spd manual and it had very few problems in a 140k miles.
My Job puts me in a LOT of late model vehicles (driving) Corollas, Sentras, any cheap Hyundai or Kia feel and sound cheap by comparison. But you drive them all and decide.
