Will a 2005 Ford Explorer 4.0 v6 engine go into a 99 ford ranger, if not what small trucks will it work with?
I just had to rebuild the engine in my 2005 Ford Explorer 4.0 v6. Was wanting to know if it could go into a 99 ford ranger, if not what small trucks or cars are interchangeable?
Can check with a local salvage yard to see. It should, but you you may need the engine and computer and the wiring, will need to check mounts, etc. May wind up costing more than fixing 99 engine

- Will a 1993 3.0 Ford Ranger engine fit and work with my 1995 Ford ranger that has a bad motor? My 1995 ford ranger 3.0 5 speed ran hot and cracked the heads and spun a bearing. Will a 3.0 out of a 1993 Ford Ranger fit and work? My concerns are the 1993 has a distributor and my 1995 does not. Are the water pumps and accessories the same?
- Small trucks, good on gas? Suggestions? I'm going to be buying a small truck here in a few weeks. I've been looking mainly into Ford Rangers, I'm a girl who has no experience with trucks and I'm really needing some good advice on what small trucks would be best on gas. I need something handy that could haul a dirt bike and a few things here and there, but one that is also good on gas for driving long distances. - 1997 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 won't shift into drive after being driven. Takes longer than should to shift into drive when first started? It will go in reverse fine. First thing in the morning when I leave for work, it will shift into drive on it's own, but takes a bit longer than it should. After getting it warm, won't shift into drive at all. I can shift down to 1st or 2nd, then back into drive and it will "pop up" into drive within a second or 2. I also have a ODB2 error P1744 (Torque Converter circuit).
