Why is the ford explorer not for sale in the uk? - 1

I would think that there's not enough demand for that kind of car to make it PROFITABLE for the manufacturer to export them to the UK. The British and German brands seem to have the market covered quite nicely, and THEIR costs are a lot lower than shipping from the USA.

Why would it must be lack of interest.

It might be because gas costs almost $10 a gallon in the UK and Explorers get the worst mileage of almost any other US car.

Mainly because it doesn't have an available diesel engine and the Brits don't tend to buy petrol powered SUV/CUVs. It's also a larger vehicle than what tends to sell over their.

Its not thought to warrant enough sales. As its very similar to Range rover sport ( evoque) . Fuel usage is considered too high to be saleable in enough numbers to warrant imports and taxes.
