What do I do on my 2000 Ford Explorer the oil pan will not come off?

We removed 20 bolts Help?!

Sometimes a good whop or two with a rubber mallet will loosen them, but most times you will need to use a strong tool (chisel, or even screwdriver) to separate it at a "corner." Drive into the seal until it will pry loose.

After cleaning all the old sealant off be sure to straighten the lip of the pan if you bend it. It will get bent slightly!

Pry it gently until you get the pan gasket adhesive to give way.

Use a plastic tool to try to separate the pan from the seal. This should prevent damage to the pan.

If your sure all the bolts are out then use a flat screwdriver and pry down along the oil pan lip, but not too hard or you could warp the pan!
