2000 ford ranger 3.0 4x4 oil pan gasket replacement?
What's it take to change? Step by step guide would be helpful. Personal tricks of the trade. What specific tools I need. Can I drop the pan enough to clean off old gasket and slide new one in? Evening day or all day or weekend project.

Due to the fact that Ford has put this big cross member right under the engine and you would have to drop the pan low enough to clear the oil pump pick up tube your looking at removing the engine to do this job.
- My buddy has a 99 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 that is leaking oil from rear passenger wheel. Any ideas on why? The brake cover is not pushed all the way against the hub. There's a half inch gap between them. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. So it has nothing to do with the wheel bearing?
- My 2000 Ford Ranger 4X4 randomly quit running? It only has 101k miles. It ran great before, but now it just quit and won't even start. Anyone know what this could be? I don't really have the money to take it to the shop right now.
- Looking for your opinion So I'm a mechanic i replace my head gasket on my 1996 ford ranger 2.3 gasket the head bolts the hole 9 yards I torqued the head 51 to 90 ft pounds and the sequence was 51 to 60 to 80 90 so I don't know if i should re torque head bolts or leave it? I'm afraid if i torque them again one will break what do you think paul?
- Does the oil pan have to be removed to change the rear main seal on a ford 3.0L V6 in a 2000 ford ranger? I have the engine removed from the truck and was swaping in a salvaged engine that all checks out good except for a slight leaking rear main seal. So, after inspecting the rear main seal, it appears as though a could just slide it out and a new one in. Does the oil pan need to be removed? Or can I just carefully remove the old seal and clean the surfaces good and install a new one?
