Rebadging a Vehicle?
I have a 94' Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer, and wish to take the old "Explorer" badge off and replace it with an XLT badge as I'm making a Jurassic Park car. (It was an XLT, not Eddie Bauer). I live in the state of Tennessee and plan to be driving it out of state at least once in my lifetime at least. Will it be illegal if I do this?
It's your car. Do whatever you like with it. Is Eddie Bauer going to come back from the dead and sue you?
Dear clueless. As a private owner you could put anything on it that you want to. You can take all the badges off and put a Rolls Royce badge on it if that's what floats your egotistical boat. The difference between Explorer and XLT really only matters when you go to sell the vehicle. It would be unethical to pass it off as an XLT.
Law enforcement could care less about your vehicle's badging. You could place the badging off your refrigerator on your Ford if you wish.
No, this will not be illegal.
It is legal as long as you do not then try to sell the car pretending it is an XLT. That would be fraud.
- What are my chances of getting a loan from Ford for a 60K vehicle (600 credit score) and I make 98K a year? I have two credit cards both 10% utilization, and two loans approx 20K all together with payments at 350 each, rent is 600 a month and that is all I pay.
- I'm buying a used vehicle today, Does it need to be inspected again? I'm buying a 1999 Ford Taurus today from a Private owner. The owner has had the vehicle inspected months earlier, and the car passed and is currently running fine. Does the car need to be reinspected once I buy the car to get my own tags on it?
- Is a face lift for a vehicle a new generation for a vehicle? I heard that in 1989 Ford Ranger received a facelift but was a new generation or just a minor update that did not change the complete model of the vehicle?
