Get a static pressure tester and pressure test the cooling system.
Leaking coolant, I assume, but from where? Water pump seal? Damaged radiator hose? Cracked heater hose? Do you have an oil cooler or tranny cooler on it [those have coolant hoses, too.] And, at age 23 years, you could have a crack in the actual radiator as well.
if you're not leaking onto the ground but coolant goes down anyway -- check the overflow tank and hose to it -- [when engine gets hot you'd be away from home and a crack would then lose coolant out on the road -- might not see it at home].
last thought -- if the oil [check via dipstick] has water in it, you have a gasket problem inside the engine. That's serious when it happens -- running the engine at all could tear it up as the oil isn't able to properly lube the bearings.

- On my 2000 ford mustang why does my air pump (smog pump) only blow air for 5 seconds after start up? Is that normal? I have p0411 secondary air injection system insufficient flow detected. I've checked the hose that comes out from the pump, it's blowing air but I believe it should blow air for much longer than 5 seconds on start up.
- How to change water pump on 1993 Ford Tempo? I managed to get the drive belt off but I can't seem to get the tube that goes into the water pump off. It seems to be made of metal or something. I also can't seem to reach the 3 bolts that hold the water pump on, they seem to be in places to tight to reach. Any suggestions?
- My car keeps struggling and misfiring after water keeps leaking into spark plugs? I have a ford focus 06 ghia and recently we took to a garage as was really sluggish and found we had water in spark plug casing. We have been told his is a common problem with this model! (wish I had been told about this before I had purchased the car) Has anybody had this problem and how was it rectified? Cheapest option:-( one poorly car at the moment
- My throttle body from my 1993 Ford F-150 5.8L is leaking fuel. What can I do to repair it myself? My truck will not start, there are ignition sounds but it with will not ignite. I've replace the distributor cap and rotor and the fuel line hoses from the fuel vapor canister to the throttle body. Do you think it could be a bad gasket?
