How to change water pump on 1993 Ford Tempo?

I managed to get the drive belt off but I can't seem to get the tube that goes into the water pump off. It seems to be made of metal or something. I also can't seem to reach the 3 bolts that hold the water pump on, they seem to be in places to tight to reach. Any suggestions?

I always remove the passenger side front wheel and the plastic splash shield/fenderwell liner so I can get better access to it since the motor is mounted sideways and its a tight fit.

The water pump on a ford temp can be a bit of a pain in the but. To get at the water pump you must get at it from the bottom of the car. First thing you need to do is loosen the tension on the drive belt for the water pump. This can be done by loosening the large bolt on the back of the idler pulley and then loosening the tension on the belt with the second sideways screw on the pulley. Once the belt is out of the way their are three main bolts that need to be removed to take the water pump completely out of the way. Once the bolts are off you must struggle to work the e water pump out from under the car. The new water pump is just as fun to mount, I found I had to leave the pulley off to get the pump in place. The gasket is a real pain to put in place I had a friend hold the gasket from the top of the car when I installed the pump Getting the pulley bolts in place is also a real pain. It is about a 2 to 3 hour job, I hope to never do it again. Its one of fords worst designs and is not really made for the do-it yourself-er. It is a real pain. If your Tempo has A.C. It helps a lot if you move one of the hoses out of your way. But keep in mind doing so means evacuating and recharging the system. Also you have to first remove the inlet tube and housing from the pump to be able to remove the pump.
