2000 Ford Explorer, heater won't heat up?

After checking the radiator, check the heater matrix.

Most vehicle heaters are part of the COOLING system of the engine. Check the radiator system.

If the car is heating up the radiator fluid is either not flowing through the heater core or the door to your heater core is not opening to allow hot air to get into the passenger cabin. This is usually caused by a vacuum hose that is leaking or disconnected. Check all the vacuum hoses to the heater controls.

1996 through 2001 Explorers and Mercury Mountaineers don't use the vacuum hose system for their blend doors. The blend door in these years are moved by an actuator right behind the glove box. Some owners get luckier than others where the hinge of the blend door may break while in other Explorer/Mountaineers (and 1998-2003 Rangers/Mazda trucks because they use the same dash) the problem may simply be the actuator which can be bought at NAPA part number 655-1551. If the hinge is broken the dash need to come out if you have a dealership or shop do it. There's a Ytube channel that has a simpler and more durable fix. Go on Youtube and put the words FORD EXPORER HEATER TREATER in the search box. Hinges are guaranteed never to break (if that's the case with yours, Yohana) if you get the heater treater.2000 Ford Explorer, heater wont heat up - 1

  • My son has a 2000 Ford Taurus, there's not heat in his car? The car is equipped with a Auto Climate Control Unit. When the heat is turned on the blower motor does turn on as if there's no power to the blower. We have replaced the blower motor and checked all the fuses and relays. Could this be the Climate Control Resistor or the all in one controls on the dashboard? Or did we overlook something else?
  • Heater isn't hot enough in my car, is there a way to make the heater better? I drive a 1998 Ford Taurus Wagon, the heater on it is alright but when it's 10 degrees outside it kinda sucks. Is there an actual way to make your heater hotter?
  • 2000 Ford Taurus SE Wagon Heater Problem? The heater doesn't work. We flushed the heater core hoses with coolant and they are not clogged, what is the reason for the heater not working? The heater works, just very very light.
