Stubborn lifter replacement?
I have a 1996 Ford Escort LX cylinder #1 has been misfiring a lot and one of the lifters is bad in it so I'm assuming it's related. I took one of the lifters out no problem. The other one however is incredibly stubborn. I can't get it out for the life of me. It's just an absolute shame to it's lifter family. I'm wondering how I can remove the lifter in any way without having to take of the head because I don't really feel like having a big project right now. I need transportation. I'm assuming that the lifter is mushroomed out on the bottom and so it is stuck in there because it comes out partway but then stops. Any suggestions?
When you assume,
I assume the proper way to replace lifter IS remove head

- Where did my push rod lifter go? I have a 1973 Ford f100 with a 77' 351 modified engine, after taking off my valve covers I noticed one rocker arm was loose. We saw that the push rod wasn't touching and was about an inch and a half away and it doesn't have a lifter… And I'm a little concerned as to where it could have gone… Please help… How harmful is this to my engine.

- If I want to replace the lifters in a 302 V-8 does it matter what type I put in it as a replacement? My lifters are floating a little I'm going to try an oil change first but if that does not fix the problem would it matter what kind of lifters it has if I replace them. Would i be able to replace them with a different kind of lifter? Ok I have a 1969 Ford Mustang with a 1995 ford mustang 302? How could I tell what kind of lifters are in my engine.
