I think my thursh bearing has gone?
Hi all i drive a 1995 ford escort mk6 with 55k miles on the clock to date.
Last year i took my car to get the clutch done at Mr clutch at around 45k miles, Everything has been fine until the last thew days, i did a 2k round trip for work and i started to noticed a whining noise from the gear box but when i put my foot on the clutch the noise went. I turned the car off when i get home and went to it the following morning and the noise was gone, so 2 days went by and the noise comes and goes.
So my question is what do you all think the problem is i personally think the thrush bearing has gone.
Also i can't take it back to Mr clutch as the guy who did the last inspection put a x through all of the miles for the service so i thought i didn't have to go back any more but it turns out i did so they voided my warranty.
Added (1). My next question at college we was always taught to replace the clutch/throw out bearing and pressure plate at the same time. I have a spare throw out bearing could i get away with just replacing that.
From your description it sounds like the gearbox input shaft bearing which is making the noise,
the clutch thrust bearing would only make a noise as you press the pedal,
when the pedal is released the thrust bearing is not in contact with anything and not turning so could not make a noise.
Either Daniel hasn't read your question properly or he is a fake. Clutch thrust bearings are noiseless whilst the pedal is up since they are not in use. If you get noise when you depress the pedal that is an indication of a faulty bearing. If you are getting noise during normal driving the gearbox bearings are suspect. Maybe time to trade it in or an exchange gearbox?
Get the gear box oil checked first.
It is called a throw out bearing. Yes, it is bad. The part usually has a 12,000 mile or 1 year warranty. If they failed to write the mileage, they have to stand by the one year, it is their fault for not taking the mileage down.
- How do you determine if your car is under California or Federal emissions if your emissions sticker is gone? I have a 1993 ford taurus 3.8L V6 GL 4dr. Sedan. I need to know if my car is under California or federal emissions. I know you are suppose to have a sticker on your car that tells you but mine was destroyed over time so I really don't know. Is their another way to get this information? How would I find out?
- Front Bumper is gone on the used car I just bought. How much to fix it? Is it safe to drive? I just bought a used car for $1300 the only issues with it our the rear suspension needs to be fixed and the front fender is missing completely. There's no metal at all and no cover so the bottom half of the radiator is exposed. Its an 02 ford Taurus and I'm wondering how much a complete new bumper is going to cost like a ball park estimate? And is it safe to drive it without the front bumper temporarily?
- How much roughly is it for a new release bearing on a car? I have a 2008 ford ka Everytime I press on the clutch there's a rattling noise I have googled its the release bearing How much roughly would this cost? Also why did this happen? I'm in the UK
