Ford escort serpentine belt keeps coming off.when it rains?
I have a 98 escort zx2 every time it rains my serpentine belt comes off. I don't think its the tensioner because its so hard to pull when i put it back on. I've replaced the belt 3 times now due to it sheredding. Any other ideas? This is getting really annoying and getting another car isn't an option right now
Hi so three things get changed when the serpentine belt is changed the belt it's tensioner and the water pump why well the pulleys become worn and need to be replaced.
If the belt is shredding, think what is causing that. You pull it out and say to yourself, "its shredding". What causes shredding is too much tension on the belt like one of the pulleys is frozen up. Take the belt off and go through each pulley and make sure they are free. The rain is just the opportunity the belt needs to go off. Its not the cause.
- How to put on a serpentine belt on a 99 ford contour with a 2.0l vct engine? My serpentine belt snapped so I went to advanced auto parts and bought a new belt. I have looked at the belt diagram on my car and it does not match my pulley system so I tried to put the belt through the pulleys and there's a lot of extra slack at the bottom can anyway give me the correct diagram or help me out?
- New serpentine belt squeals? My dad replaced the serpentine belt on my car (07 Ford Fusion SEL) last weekend when I was home. I noticed my car makes grinding noises when I reverse it and a squealing/peeping noise when I turn now. Should I take it in and have a mechanic look at it? My car has never made that noise before, so it has to be from the new belt.
- How long will this serpentine belt last? Its on a 2010 ford fusion. There's a big rip in it there's about 1/4 inch width left in one spot. How long will it last before breaking? I need to go 3 miles
- Owner of 2003 ford focus, car keeps needing a jump. Last time I did when the cables came off the car shut off? The car lasted a couple of days the last time I jumped it. I believe It's just my battery but how would I know it has anything to do with my accelerator as well?
