How much to fix a car window?

I went somewhere with my friends, and one of my friends had their window down. When we stopped she was like "I forgot to put my window up" so I restarted the car and flipped the window switch. Nothing happened. Low on resources we decide to go back home to get duct tape and pull the window up as far as it'll go and tape it there (the window just drops otherwise)
It was a sudden and strange thing to happen! My car never had this kind of problem before!
My car is a 2004 Ford Escape

Did you check to see if it was something as simple as a fuse?

Could be a wire off, a burned out motor… Any of a 1/2 dozen things.

If it's not a fuse, probably looking at a few hundred to replace a motor and labor.

Most likely, the window is off track, you'll need to take the door apart to determine the cause and potential cost to repair. The motor relay is the common part to fail, along with the switch itself. Both are common symptoms of a bad window seal, allowing rain water to collect in the door, which can cause the parts to fail, and eventually the track to rust. That's why, you can't determine the cost until the door is properly opened up and see / test the parts.

Oh dear, another child with a car who does not know that auto glass companies fix problems with car windows and replace glass and can do estimates for free for we can't. WE Can't. So simple. Rather than text a message, the seemingly automatic mandatory response to anything and everything, please look for local solutions to car issues. We offer advise and counsel not technical information. It is not possible.
