ENGINE OIL TURNS BLACK QUICK? - 1

Just bought a 2014 VW jetta 1.8t, They changed up the oil before me purchasing it. So they did it and a few days later i check it and its back to black. I had a ford and the oil always kept its color and eventually turns brown or amber during age but this engine just turns in dark quick. Is this a problem? What should i do?

Maybe they changed the oil but kept the old, crud-filled oil filter.
A seriously worn out engine would tend to make the oil turn black but not over a couple of days.
I'd be inclined to change the oil and filter again.

If it is diesel powered, that is normal. If it is a gasoline engine and not a diesel It may have cylinder blow-by (bad rings). Get the compression checked - something you have done BEFORE buying a used vehicle.

There was a problem with some VW's if people changed the original oil too soon when new before the rings seated and they would forever consume about a quart (or liter) every 500 miles. As mentioned if that is a diesel that could happen because they burn a lot sootier. But detergent oils should keep things in suspension so anything big enough to matter can be filtered out by the oil filter (which I hope was changed with the oil).

Diesels turn black, period. If this is a gas engine, then the previous owner did not change oil regular. You will have to do several early changes to start correcting the dirt build up in the motor.
