Check for trouble codes. Vehicle could be misfiring or there's an issue with the cam sensor.

I've seen bad crankshaft position sensors cause bucking.

Find a good mechanic with a decent scan tool. They can hook up the scan tool and record what all the sensors are doing and record the timing and cam advance readings to help catch the problem when it happens on a test drive. It will cost an hour labor.

Suspect cheapest first, fuel, fuel filter, fuel pump

  • Do petrol cars have Coil Packs? Sorry if this sounds like a ridiculous question but I'm clueless when it comes to the mechanical side of cars. My car is running lumpy and I've been told to try changing the coil pack as its common to break on these cars (2004 Ford Focus 1.6 Petrol). I said to my brother about it and he told me that no petrol cars have coil packs. I think he's wrong so I want a second opinion. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thank you for your replies in advance and Merry Christmas!
  • I have a 1995 ford f150 5.8 engine that feels like is misfiring? As I have the truck on park or as I'm on a stop light the truck starts shaking. But it gets worse when I get up to speed the the truck runs fine till I need some more power then it starts shaking again. At times it feels like the transmission is going bad but I took it in and they told me that it was not that, but that it could be a bad ignition coil. What do you guys think? I cleaned the egr valve and it did not fix anything.
  • I own a 2006 Ford Expedition. I just had the coil packs and plugs changed? After having them changed, when the truck gets warm. The idle drops down to 250 rpm's and it dies when slowing down to a stop or turning. Can't find any vacuum leak and double checked all electrical connections. Any advice on what it could be?
  • I need help. My 2008 Ford Edge SUV is on the side of the road and the engine and transmission has been destroyed. What should I do? The mechanic guy said it wouldn't be worth to fix it… Should I tow to my house or leave it there? Should I sell it now or what? City Code Enforcement don't want dead cars in home driveways so what do I do?
