Can I drive an American car in the UK?

We're moving to England next month and I don't like their cars because they're tiny. We have a Ford Crown Victoria and a GMC van and planning to ship them to the UK so we can drive them there.

They're left hand drive, so, can I drive them in the UK?

Its possible to permanently import an American car to the UK, but it will need several modifcations to meet UK standards; for example addition of rear fog lights, indicators, headlights, emissions adjustments etc. It will need registering in the UK, which will involve a VOSA inspection and an MOT test - obviously left hand drive cars will cost much more to insure than RHD cars will, since you're in a much less safe driving position and are more likely to be involved in an accident (especially when overtaking); and parts and labour will be much higher for foreign cars if any repairs are needed.

You'll also need to pay import taxes and customs fees on both cars.

You'll also need to take and pass all three sections of the UK driving test and get a British licence. You can only drive on a US licence for six months. You'd need to borrow or rent a right hand drive to take your test in, you can't take a UK driving test in a LHD car - you'd also be advised to take your test in a manual (stick shift), otherwise you only get a restricted licence and can only legally drive an automatic.

Factoring in all the extra expense it would be much cheaper to buy new cars in the UK, there are bigger models available but you'll probably find them impractical for UK use due to the price of petrol (gasoline) and the width of the roads, most of our cities and towns had their road layouts in place centuries before the car was invented.

Yes if it has a UK license plate.

You can, but you will have difficulty parking.

Cars in the UK are small for a reason. Fuel is three times the price of the US, the roads are small, insurance for anything over 2Litre/4 cylinders is like wiping your but on $100 notes.
