I don't think you can, and still get enough 'traction' to turn the water pump. How about you just unhook the wire going to the magnetic clutch built-into the pulley?
Remove the compressor and get a "dumb" AC idler pulley installed.
The routing diagram I can source for a Ford 5.4 wouldn't allow for an A/C bypass, you might be able to if you replace the flat idler pulley with an appropriate ribbed pulley, but that would give a lot less tensioner movement so you would have to be pretty delicate with your belt length, you would have to fit the ribbed pulley and measure for yourself, because approximate won't be good enough.
- How to bypass the antitheft on 2004 ford Taurus? Bought a car for a demo off a guy who did not have keys for it. It came from an impound towing place so they gave us only the title and my boyfriend ripped out the ignition and it won't start now by hot wiring it because the anti theft won't let it fire. Anything we can do? Getting a key is not an option because he pulled it all out.
- Aren't you amazed by the capabilities and the size of today's full-size pickup trucks? I drive a 2011 Ford Ranger XLT 4x2 with a 4.0 liter V6 (~245 ci.) engine. I was looking up the specs for early-mid 1960s F100s (considered full-size), and they have nearly the same GVWR, towing capacity, payload, horsepower, wheelbase, and height as my "compact" truck. In your opinion, do you think today's full-size trucks are amazing or too fancy/over-sized (a traditionalist like me)? P.S.: I like all American vehicles
- Any way to bypass the Ford PATS system? *I lost my original keys to my 2001 Ford Ranger.* Ordered a new lock cylinder prior to knowing about the PATS system. Drilled the old one. What can I do? Have a new set of keys with no chip in them. Truck will not start. Theft light blinks and I get nothing.
