- Aren't you amazed by the capabilities and the size of today's full-size pickup trucks? I drive a 2011 Ford Ranger XLT 4x2 with a 4.0 liter V6 (~245 ci.) engine. I was looking up the specs for early-mid 1960s F100s (considered full-size), and they have nearly the same GVWR, towing capacity, payload, horsepower, wheelbase, and height as my "compact" truck. - 2007 Ford Ranger rear end jerks on acceleration after a downshift at about 20 MPH? 2007 Ford Ranger 28,000 miles, 8.8" Rear axle 3:18 gears auto trans. Every now and then when I accelerate from around 20 MPH and the truck downshifts there's a small jerk in the rear end a second after the downshift. Is this normal? I just bought the truck and never had RWD before. If someone knows what the problem is that would be awesome!
- How to decrease the amount of backlash in my Ford 8.8 rear end? I know I can change my ring gear and pinion gear but is there a way to shim the pinion gear? Any suggestions?
- Ford 8.8 rear end problem? In my crown vic I picked up a used ring gear and pinion and both were in good shape so I swapped in them in place of my stock gears I used the same bearings and factory shims just a gear swap no overhaul since it wasn't needed now I got it all together and there's a noise coming from the rearend its not exactly a whine but the only thing i'm unsure of was setting the pinion. Would that cause a noise?
