Anybody owns a Ford Crown Vic? Are they reliable?
Lol. I live in British Columbia, Canada. I have only owned 86 Corolla and 93 Camry. They all went well over 300k. I heard newer Toyota isn't that reliable. I only need something ugly and super reliable. Lol. Most of time I ride a bicycle here. So just need something super safe.
What do you think about Crown Vic?
As you know, Crown Vic is built in Canada. We got a lot of them everywhere. But they were all fleet like cabs and ex cop cars.
are they reliable? I can also go down south. You guys have a lot of them too. Since they are built in Canada. I can import without duty as well. But i do need some reviews please. Thanks.
Added (1). i barely even drive that much. I commute by a bicycle. I only use a car for grocery shopping and for my side business, which gas can be written off as an expense. Lol. I think a fleet car like this meets my need. I originally wanted another Camry, like 2000s. A few owners told me they were not as reliable as the one I have now, 93 CAMRY. I have 300k on it. Still running.
Added (2). lol. Do Americans know that we Canadian build Crown Vic. Lol. But i think there are way more Crown Vics down south than here. So i gonna go down south to look for a good one.
Probably the best car ever made.
When you consider that Ford started making the panther body in 1979, and continued to improve it until production stopped a few years back, and that it has been the standard police, taxi, limo, military and fleet vehicle for all these years… It had to be good.
800,000 km is easy to get with these cars, and unlike the rest of the junk made, there will be few repairs on the way.
The only weak points on the car are the intake manifolds (plastic may crack at 150,000 km) and fuel pump (usually go at 320,000 km).
Nothing else breaks.
They have as equals on the freeway only full-size mercedes, and they are safe and solid (full frame rear-wheel drive).
Late model ones can get 24 mpg mixed driving, and ones with a high axle ratio can get 28 on the highway.
Robert is right that parts are easy to get and cheap if you ever need them.
They perform extremely well for a full size car, Otherwise, the police would never use them.
Joe is very wrong. I can only echo what the others said. The Crown Vic is one of the most reliable cars considering how cheap you can get them. They are fairly easy to work on, reasonable fuel mileage for a v8, and ride quality is decent.
Joe is wrong. The crown vic is amazing! Good luck breaking down the 4.6! We had the crown vic in a lincoln (the towncar) and it was a tank!
No. Ford cars are not very reliable nowadays when compared to Honda's and Chevy.
- Why is it that when someone owns a Chevy/Ford/Mopar they feel the need to rip on every other brand of vehicle? I mean it's as if they were getting paid to advertise their opinion. Just because you're a loyal Ford fan boy doesn't mean that Chevys are complete garbage. I drive a Ford but I don't go around trash talking everyone who likes Chevys.
- Opinions about a 2007 Ford Crown Vic? Thinking about buying this 2006 crown vic. I heard the air ride suspension is a headache to fix. This seems like a good tough car, they use them for Taxi's don't they?
- Is Mercury Grand Marquis/Ford Crown Vic a good 1st car? Looking for a first car and I'm really interested in a Grand Marquis/Ford Crown Vic and want to know opinions on the car as a 1st car and in general. They seem to be well maintained and used lightly by a generally older crowd. Opinions?
- Can I use 50/50 Prestone GREEN coolant in a 2008 ford crown vic Police interceptor? The owner's manual recommends using Motorcraft premium Gold Engine coolant with bittering agent (YELLOW COLORED) but is it ok to just use the green stuff?
