Is Mercury Grand Marquis/Ford Crown Vic a good 1st car?
Looking for a first car and I'm really interested in a Grand Marquis/Ford Crown Vic and want to know opinions on the car as a 1st car and in general. They seem to be well maintained and used lightly by a generally older crowd. Opinions?
OK. But handle poorly and use lots of fuel. But if you like them, go for it.
Naturally it depends.
Good" Big usually means safer in an accident, but it also uses more gas. Big also means lots of room for friends, but lots of friends leads to more distracted driving, which leads to accidents. It also means you might be the go to driver and have to foot the bill for gas when others will not chip in. It will be cheaper to insure, as parts are available and they don't have a high theft value (way better than a mustang). A lot depends on how responsible you are as a driver, being very cautious and careful your first few years of driving will save you thousands of dollars in the years to come.
For the mercury: no, but for the ford yes it is, I would recommend something like a toyota or acura or honda for reliability and better price and mpg
- What original Ford CD players will work and fit perfectly for a 2000 grand Marquis? I want to know if I can take a CD player from an older, pre 2003 Ford, and put it in my grand marquis. I know it had to be sloped to fit in perfectly and there are different connectors. I tried looking at a junkyard, but none had CD players.
- Paint problems on Mercury Grand Marquis? The paint is flaking off my Grand Marquis. I first noticed when using a high pressure hose at a car wash. Started looking the car over and found several places where the paint seems to be just falling off. Is this common with Ford/Mercury products?
- My 1995 ford crown Vic making a Continuous beep randomly when driving and even when the car is off? Not Beeping but a long high Continuous beep randomly when driving and even when the car is off. It's really high-pitched and sometimes it fades in and out but I can't get it to turn off I have a seatbelt on the car doors locked lights off and everything what could it be
- Can I use 50/50 Prestone GREEN coolant in a 2008 ford crown vic Police interceptor? The owner's manual recommends using Motorcraft premium Gold Engine coolant with bittering agent (YELLOW COLORED) but is it ok to just use the green stuff?
