40's - 50's Trucks… Ford or Chevy?

Added (1). Ok, so I've reached a point in life where I want to restore a car. A truck to be exact. I have finally narrowed down what I'm looking for, and thats a 40's or 50's short bed pickup. Really like the patina / rat look, so not looking to do a full restoration. I'm mechanicly inclined, so thats not my worry, I just want to know which is easier to work on, modify, and access parts.

Either would be good, it's a matter of personal preference. Both are easy to get aftermarket parts for. I drive a '57 Chevy Pickup in the summer, have had it since 1990.

A quick answer would be a Chevrolet because Ford has discontinued engines over and over till this year.

Chevy Stove Bolt 6 or a Ford Flatty V8 - take your pick! Both have their following and plenty of parts, and more importantly, safe upgrades either way. Really you just can't go wrong here either way - so let the available candidates and their condition be your guide here. Don't overlook a GMC, which will be a different 6 cylinder than the Chevy, and to many a more desirable in-line six. Back in the day of GM divisions having their own engines. GMC was known for their strong in-line and V-6 truck engines… Engines that were never found in cars.

The Chevrolet would be easier because there's a larger range of parts for the older trucks.

Both of them.
