2000 ford contour chugs then dies?
I have a 2000 ford contour v6 recently I was on my way home from work and it started to chug not bad but noticeable then it started to do it more but harder eventually I pulled over and it just died tried starting back up and it cranked but it would die I let sit for a day then it started back up sounded fine but then I go to engage in a gear whether reverse or drive and then it would chug and die. I do have a code showing p0401 with engine light always on but didn't think twice after replacing my range transmission sensor it showed that code… I'm thinking it is fuel pump along with fuel filter any help I would appreciate it
Possible causes for P0401
- EGR passage clogged
- Faulty EGR Vacuum Modulator Valve
- Faulty EGR Valve
- Faulty EGR solenoid valve
- EGR solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- EGR solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
- Dead (Weak) battery
- Faulty EGR temperature sensor and circuit
- Exhaust gas leaks
I would check the EGR passage ways first for a chunk of carbon build up and that does not cost anything or the EGR temp sensor because after it cools down or while it starts back up. Look up the other stuff on youtube and see how to check out the other possibilities. But check and verify a problem before you spend $
- Why is the temperature guage in my 2000 ford contour going to hot? I have changed the thermostat? It runs with perfection while the reservoir cap is off but as soon as i replace the cap it starts to run hot again. The engine stays cool even when the gauge reads ho
- 2007 Ford Taurus rough idle and dies of I don't put my foot on the gas? I have a 2007 Ford Taurus that has a very rough idle but once I get to 30 miles per hour or so everything is fine. Since this started my battery is always dead when I go to start my car. I've replaced the ignition coil and the wires cause autozone said that was the problem. But it still is acting the same way. The car dies when in idle and I don't know what else to do. Any help is appreciated.
- 1998 Ford Taurus Dies At Low Idle? 1998 Ford Taurus I know needs new alternator because battery won't stay charged. When I boost the vehicle off it will run at 1000 RPMs smooth. No vibration. As I lower RPMs below 1000 it begins to sputter almost like it's missing. Eventually will die completely. Could the alternator not keeping charge to the system cause this? If not what could be other problems?
- I'm having the code P0304 keep coming up on my 2000 Ford Contour. With a 2.0 engine? The car ran fine until I replaced the fuel pump and assembly. I can drive the car for about 4 hours and it will start stalling. The other fuel pump and assembly came from a salvage yard. Could the fuel pump be the problem?
