1964 Ford Thunderbird Engine?

This isn't a running engine due to cut spark plug wires. The lady says that it has good compression and turns freely. The wires were cut due to a renter that was mad. It looks very clean and good, but id rather ask around…1964 Ford Thunderbird Engine - 1

Do a compression test, you don't need ignition for that. Or if you're really serious, buy a cheap wire set for 15 bucks and make it run.
Looks interesting, too bad they ran it without an air filter.
Post more pics.

And the question is?

Yes, could be. Valve covers look right. Edelbrock carb does not. Would prefer to hear it run. For $20 (wires) the seller could make that happen.

Go ahead and ask around… You dipsh*t. You won't know a dang thing about this unless you replace wires, find a hot battery and crank the beast up.
People my age are cranky. We don't have a crystal ball and like to get stuff done. Keep asking on here and wade through bullsh*t answers…

So… Get a set of wires buy as set of plugs too

Charge up the battery

Pull the plugs… Dribble something like Marvels Mystery Oil in the holes… That will work down the cylinders and break the glaze from sitting.

Install the gapped plugs

Reconnect the battery and see if it cranks and fires.

If its been sitting you may need a fuel filter and carb cleaning too

Air, spark, gas… Needs all 3 to run

Hi, I'd be very skeptical if that carb was on it when you got it. That is a performance carb and if they put it on they may have cooked the motor and just cut the wires so it couldn't be started to hear the problem… Stick a battery in it and see if it even cranks (don't need plug wires to do that.). You can't tell anything about a motor with out hearing it. Looks mean nothing if it don't run.

This engine will also have points and condenser in the distributor, May be able to clean the points but the condenser will probably need replaced. They are cheap and easy to replace.

Being that old it will need to be rebuilt. If you can turn it by rotating the fan blade and it is cheap then go for it.

No motor should turn freely with the spark plugs in place. What's the scoop with the over-sized Edelbrock Carburetor?
