Total Cost of importing a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth to the United States from the UK or Europe?
I've always loved the Ford Sierra and Escort Cosworths that were made over in Europe. Sadly can't even think about importing an Escort Cosworth yet due to it's age, but the Sierra RS Cosworths are now over 25 years old and eligible to be imported into the United States. My question is, easily, how much would it be to purchase an 86-88 Sierra RS Cosworth (Tinkering with the idea of the limited edition RS500 version) and then importing it either from the UK or Mainland Europe? Any info would be great to have to make my decision. And I'd love having other Americans double taking by seeing a Ford they've never heard of before.
I'll bet the prices are astronomic. We did have imported Sierras as Merkur, but they don't get much notice these days.
Hi old cozzy a nightmare actually the computers where crude devices so settings where poor. Now most have been scraped into beer cans.
You're better off finding a Merkur XR4Ti which is the same car. It's going to be much cheaper.
I can't help you with Import costs, you need to speak to a shipping agent.
What I can tell you and previous answerers… The 'Merker XR4TI' mentioned by 'fodaddy and Hugo' is NOTHING like the Sierra Cosworth the asker is talking about. The XR4I was sold in the UK from '83-'85 with a 2.8 litre 2.8 litre injected V6 (The german engine) The 'Merker' had the similar body with the 'double wing' rear spoiler and, I believe a 2.3 litre 4 cyl emgine. Totally different body and engine.
The Cosworth's were made in limited numbers with a DOHC 2.0 litre Turbocharged engine and are now collectors items and attract large money - Especially the RS500. These could be tuned up to 340BHP!
Dr Bearsface. The reason many of these are now "beer cans" is nothing to do with the "compurers"?
Simply, at the time they were very reasonably priced (considering the power) and many ended up wrapped around lamp-posts.
Finding a good one is hard as many got crashed.
Price is all done to what you can find.
Shipping will be about $2000 for the box then whatever it takes to get it registered in the US.
Remember UK cars are RHD.
You would heed to come to Europe to find a car you are happy with and you heed to add in that cost as well.
Remember parts are now hardcase well.
To get it into the US make sure you can prove the age to US customs.
- What was the worst car ever sold in the United States? I'm not talking about something that was ugly. I'm talking about design, safety, and durability. Many say the Yugo. However, I don't remember the Yugo ever having a massive safety problem (like the Ford Pinto), rusting out overnight (like the Chevrolet Vega or the Dodge Aspen), or having such atrocities as motorized seat belts, slapped on emissions controls, etc.
- What are some current TV reality shows in the United States that restores classic cars that? Are accepting cars for restorations? Like Overhaulin, which is not accepting cars at this time. I want to surprise my husband somehow to get his 54 Ford finished for him and I can't do it on my own. Please include links if you can.
- Should the United States Navy have invest in some smaller aircraft carriers instead of Ford and Nimitz class supercarriers ships? Maybe have 5 Ford and 5 Nimitz supercarriers and 10 or so smaller as the French Charles de Gualle or a World War 2 size carrier with a few planes because losing a supercarrier would be a big blow to the US military morale and cost production. Since China and Russia has the S -400 and supersonic missles long range and maybe by the year mid 2040's or so aircraft carriers would possibly be semi outdated and a use of fast large hovercraft and stealth weapons could be the next tech or so
- How many hours of coaching has Christine Ford had so far and how many hours of total coaching will she have gone through before Thursday? Coaching from the hardcore Democrat socialists like her lawyer Katz that wears socialist t shirts at anti Trump rallies and her rabid associates paid for by Soros?
