What was the worst car ever sold in the United States?

I'm not talking about something that was ugly. I'm talking about design, safety, and durability.

Many say the Yugo. However, I don't remember the Yugo ever having a massive safety problem (like the Ford Pinto), rusting out overnight (like the Chevrolet Vega or the Dodge Aspen), or having such atrocities as motorized seat belts, slapped on emissions controls, etc.

Good point about the Yugo, I still see a few of them being driven around these days. Personally, with the Yugo people knew what they were paying for; a cheap barely functioning hunk of scrap metal. I think GM has made the worst cars overall, but the Ford Pinto was probably the worst specific model.

The TOP RATED LOUSIEST car of all time was the CHEVY VEGA< and GM continues to make the WORST cars! WORST brakes, WORST steering! I owned a PINTO and was an EXCELLENT car that lasted a long time! I never worried about FUEL TANK EXPLOSIONS w\either! The engine was GREAT! I dumped it after 170k TROUBLE FREE and SLUDGEless miles! It had a WEBER carb on it! Then I got "INTO?:" european cars! They are the BEST because they must travel at 140 MPH all day long for the AUTOBAHNS and safety around ALPINE mountains! Our roads are mostly FLAT and we're STUPID about highway speeds! All CARS should be rated for how fast they can go SAFELY! THe GM X-cars, J-cars, and A-cars were the WORST mass produced cars ever! ALUMINUM ROTORS! Next was the K cars and other first FRONT DRIVE CHRYSLER CARS! Even VW could not save them, but TRIED TO! The VEGA is the hands down WINNER of LOSERS! At 30k miels, the engiens woudl fail and the front fenders would rust off! But they HANDLED very NICELY in that short time frame! CURRENTLY tHE CAMARO hits my All TIME WORST CARS EVER! It is VERY FAST< but uncomfortable and you Can't SEE OUT THE WINDOWS! From THAT standpoint alone, they are a DEATH TRAP with the enGINE HALF way into the cockpit! The OTHER worst car EVER was the CHEVY ASTRO and GMC SAFARI vans! AT 25 MPH front collision, you will break All FOUR LEGS in front seating area, CRUSH TWO CHESTS, and send TWO HEADS into the windshield! So THEN GM added AIRBAGS to this DEATH TRAP! GOOD SAFETY is designed into the CHASSIS to begin with! GM misses the point EVERY SINGLE TIME! The older FIAT cars were ALSO rust buckets as they use NO ROAD SALT in italy were they came from. The YUGO was a FIAT underneath! EURO cars are THE safest and all have double firewalls in them and many different steels for crash protection! The CADDY uses GERMAN ZF trannies so they can run with BMW and AUDI and BENZ on the highways of EUrope! AUDI WINS for BEST overall car EVER! They NEVER RUST and have the most safety gear on board, including QUATTRO< which they now sell to other car makers! THe PINTO WAGON was Way COOL! ONe of the WORST wengien ever was the IRON DUKE mosi maker that red lined at 4500 RPM! Gm sold this opl. TANK MOVER to the chinese a few decades ago! Nearly All GM four bangers are CLUNKERS IN THE MAKING! The QUAD FOUR was ALSO a TOTAL WINNER in the LOSER arena! NONE of them could keep gaskets in for long! WOW! Now the REDID it and gave it a DIFFERENT NAME to fool people with it! Even the BUICK is a loser in the EFFICIENCY category, and it took FOUR incarnations to get this ANCIENT dinosaurish engine to run SMOOTHLY with only TWO VALVES and PUSH RODS! YIKES! Nearly EVERY gm engine made from 1996- 2005 will develop LEAKS internally that will cost owners TONS in repairs! THANK GOD for LEMON LAW LAWYERS! Gm shodu get awards for INDIFFERENCE! They JUST DON't CARE! The SATURN was another one where the trannies would blow up OVER and OVER again at 50 k mile intervals, and GM WOULD FIx THEM WITH THE SAME BAD PARTS to continue the BREAK DOWN CYCLE! Nearly EVERY GM buyer deserves REFUNDS for their woes! You can STILL get GM for DEXCOOL DILEMMA if you are CLEVER! Get 2k BACk from eh general! YESSIR!
