Could I get free struts for my car?

I have a 2001 ford torus and my mom heard something about ford having a recall possibly about the struts from ford cars and my car needs new struts. Could I get free ones? I don't know where to look for more information on it and I have a used car that I've had since November and I bought from the previous owner not a dealership

Not a chance

Ron A provided all the information you need.

Coil springs are NOT struts, but the labor should be the same. You might be able to pay extra for just the parts while Ford provides the labor. You'll have to buy OEM strut inserts. That's ONLY if the spring recall has not yet been done.

You don't know where to look? How about a Ford dealership! Bring the registration there and ask.

I don't recall any strut recall, but wouldn't hurt to car a Ford dealer & ask.

Ford doesn't replace the springs. They just install a guard to prevent a broken spring from puncturing the tire. That's it. It's just a guard. No free springs. No free struts

Do a search here, or go to the dealer with your VIN.

No.
Doubt it for your year of car. They are not meant to last forever, so if they have lasted 15 years, then chances are they are naturally worn out.

If you are handy with a wrench and have the tools, then mosey down to the auto salvage yard and maybe you can score a good set for cheap.

  • How to know if your struts are bad? I have a 2009 ford focus I had to change the front struts a few years back because i was ran into a side of a curb really hard. Anyway My car as been making a shaking noise for he past few months, i thought it was because he had to be realigned but I think there could be a bigger problem. Also there as been no excessive bouncing, noise dives, or leaking… What else could this be?
  • Do I need new struts for my Ford Focus? I think its just the bearing (s) as my ride is unchanged and the car has the same bounce when I push and release the front end down. Of course, I'm not a mechanic and don't think i'm capable of replacing struts… Just looking for a fix that isn't $800 I have a subtle click and my tires in the front have worn rough I meant the bearings in the strut. Everything else seems solid
  • Can I get my 2014 Ford Focus' transmission fixed for free? I have a used 2014 Ford Focus. I just bought it a couple weeks ago with 66,509 miles on it. It shutters between first and second gear. The clutch bands need to be replaced. TSB for it is 16-0109. Someone told me that with that TSB, I can get my transmission fixed for free. Is that true?
  • Is a CHEVY Silverado a good pick up truck? How reliable and how maintenance free? Why many American insist on driving them? What about a DODGE RAM? Or a Ford F-150? how compared to a Toyota Tundra? actually I'm not noticing many Nissan Titans… But why? Nissan is not as good as Toyota?
