Working as a car porter at 16?
Hi, I will be 16 in September, and I was wondering if a car dealer like Ford's would hire someone my age. My plan is when i'm 18 to get into Ford Motor Company and get my degree in robotics and get my electricians license. I can drive a stick and do all that, just wondering if anyone knows people that work at car dealers at a young age. I'm very responsible and everyone I talk to can't believe that i'm 15, they always think i'm at least 18. If anyone has advice for me it would be much appreciated.
U S A? Not a chance
I think it's highly unlikely that you could find a job working for an automobile dealership at 16 years old. I doubt that the dealer's insurance policy would cover your driving of any vehicles.
I like your enthusiasm, unfortunatley they won't allow you to drive the vehicles. MAybe you could Detail them instead?
Working at a dealership, as a parts runner, or similar job will not yield any work experience useful at FORD corporate, or at one of their plants. Robotics is an Electro-mechanical technology, practical application of electronics, machines and mechanical processes. Tactile Sensors, Machine Vision, proximity sensors and switches, RFID, CNC, CAD, Physics, 3d Modeling and 3D Printing, hydraulics, pneumatics, Conveyors, electronics, electrical and audio systems all come into play. All of it comes down from corporate, and outfitted into the plants after a few test runs, the processes roll out to the various plants around the world. Innovation doesn't happen at the plants, only maintenance and updates. There really are very few technology training programs that actually fit the job roles out in hte real world. Many automation programs teach programming, and building robots from scratch, which is built once, replicated and sent out to all the other sites. Ford's robots are bought from other companies, not in-house. You might want to look more closely at what tech is used or bought, and where it comes from - target the source, or really learn about what they are looking for, not what you think they might need. Look into help wanted and careers at various companies. Learn what the various jobs pay, and how many of them work for the company, and alternate companies that use similar people, and where those jobs really are.
Don't get an education that costs a bundle, that you can't use or can't get a job to pay for the education.

- Ford e250 Rear Blower Not Working? I own a 2000 Ford e250 Starcraft Conversion Van, and the rear blower control doesn't work (AC or heat) But the front blowers work just fine. When the rear blowers turn on, nothing happens at all. Could it be a fuse or the motor itself?

- Gas gauge not working and car acting up? My car ran out of gas because my gauge said I had a quarter of a tank when obviously I didn't (grrr!) Anyways I put about 3 gallons of gas in my tank and when I start my car, it's idling extremely low and when I go under 15 or 10 mph it dies. Once I get going steady (25-45mph) it's fine. Is this normal for a car that has been run out of gas? What could be wrong? Maybe I picked up the trash thats in the bottom of the tank? Help? Anyone? Suggestions? (1999 Ford Escort SE)
