Which type of car is the most reliable and will last the longest?

Nissan, honda, toyota, jeep, ford and etc.

Toyota

I find that I go back to Toyotas. They have better maintenance costs in the long run as I have never had to replace brakes that often on any Toyota I've ever owned. They are reasonable in gas mileage as well. And last a long time. If it honks in Japanese/Korean it will go the distance.

Of course cars are being built for long term and are better built now to compete so there are some American brands that do well or as good as Toyota, but the maintenance costs are what bring me back to Toyota. I don't want a car I have to buy a special tool so I can work on brakes or they have be serviced at a dealer because they have to lift the engine to get to some part.

I've owned a Corolla, a Tercel and a Yaris. All have over 100K in miles and never had to do brakes, just normal stuff like oil changes and tires. My PT Cruiser had to have the brakes done three times in 67K miles as well as the AC at 48K miles. The Saturn SL1 had a spider gear go out in the transmission. My Dad's truck is a Chevy and I think it has lasted him pretty good too.

Toyota

Chrysler

While each company has its own good and bad cars, Jeep, Toyota, Chevy, and Honda all have good reviews for used cars! Jeep is SUV 100%, but for cars you could go with any of the others mentioned and not be disappointed!

That's a very vague and generalized question.

The only real generalization you can make is that the longest lasting vehicle is the one that is properly maintained and not abused throughout its life.

Rolls Royce. They come with a lifetime guarantee.

I say Honda's or very reliable

  • Which of the three truck company's last the longest? Ford, Chevy, or GMC? I'm 18 and my dad is getting me my first vehicle and wants me to drive a truck. Here in Texas drivers are a little crazy, lol. He's looking into trucks that are between the 10k-20k range. Which of the three last longest?
  • What is the most reliable car brand? I know how long a car runs/how reliable it is, all has to do with the owner and how well said car is maintained… But generally, what car brand (eg Ford, Toyota, Chevy) lasts the longest, is the most reliable?
  • What are the most reliable cars you can think of? I want something relatively new, but it doesn't have to be brand spanking new. So far I was thinking a Volkswagen Jetta. I was also liking Subaru, but I don't know whether the impreza or legacy is better. I also like Ford Crown Victoria/Mercury Grand Marquis'. Are Jeep wranglers reliable as well? Mention any car you like and why, Hmu with your best suggestion!
  • What are the most reliable car brands and which ones should I avoid? I'm looking to get a used car. I have even heard about two lesser known Japanese brands, Subaru and Suzuki, but I'm a bit skeptical of Suzuki in particular. I'm honestly not a supporter of Mitsubishi and Mazda. I would not say having AWD/4WD is necessary for me. It is not very snowy where I live. The reason I said that I do not like Mazda was because it used to be partnered with Ford and I do not like American car companies. I'm not so keen on German cars.
