Where is the starter motor on a 1.7 ford puma?

My puma is just making a click when I try and turn it on. It has had a new battery in the last couple of weeks and it has been doing this for 2 days. First it would click a couple of times then start now it is just clicking so I believe its the starter motor. I want to check the connections before I buy a new one but don't know where it is?

Don' rush off and buy a new starter without being sure of the cause. Maybe the alternator is knackered?
If it isn't charging the battery the battery will not have enough charge to throw the starter engagement in. If it jump starts, suspect the alternator. Check the alternator belt tension too as a badly slipping belt will fail to drive the alternator sufficiently.

It's where a starter motor always is, on the bottom of the engine down at the bellhousing where it joins the gearbox. Probably difficult to reach without getting underneath and there may well be a cover under the engine you'll have to take off first.
