Where is my water going in my car?
Ok so yesterday I was driving my car, and I decided to check my oil, transmission, and water level. All was good except my water jug was empty. So I filled it back up, I drove for about an hour and decided to check my water level again. It was empty once again, I don't know where it could be going. I checked my oil to see if it was going there but it wasn't, the oil looked normal. I filled it back up and cranked the car but I didn't see any leaks under the car or coming from the top of the motor. Where could it be going? It seems to run out while I'm driving only. It's a 1992 Ford crown Victoria by the way, Can Someone Please Help?
Your radiator cap is loose or worn out.
But I don't have a radiator cap, it's just the water jug
Check the level when cool. That screw on cap on the tank is a radiator cap. Holds 16 lbs of pressure. If can be bad if you do not see a leak somewhere least.
Modern cars have not had radiator caps for a decade. If you do not have a leak then the engines head gasket has gone. You need a garage to do a sniff test on the expansion tank as it will show you for definite what is happening.
- Will water flood the inside of a car? Say that you drop an empty car into a deep pool of water (deeper than the height of the car), will the inside of the car flood? I know it is a stupid question, but I sort of want to know the answer to that question. I have seen land rovers ford some rivers and they seem fine even when the water was up to the vehicle's hood.
- Top up of water - CAR - cooling system - anti freeze? I have a low coolant level in my 2004 ford card. i was told i need a top up of antifreeze or just a pure water should do good for the time being. As they say, antifreez is nothing but a mix of water. what is the difference between topping up with pure water and a actual antifree here.
- What causes problems starting a car and the engine to misfire going over 60 mph? This problem started about two months ago. I have a 2006 Ford Taurus. So far no mechanic can figure out the problem. They have replaced all of the spark plugs (numerous times because they keep going bad), an engine coil, the crankshaft position sensor, the battery, did a tune-up, ran a $100 diagnostic test and still the problem occurs. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I forgot that they also did a coolant flush.
- Is there any one who knows how the rain water gets into my car? My Ford freestyle 2007 gets wet on the drivers side floor when it rains, the water does not come from the roof of the car or the wind shield (I have replaced and put a new wind shield) and I have tested the sun roof for leaks)
