Where can I find a good used motor around Indiana?

I'm looking for a 351W motor. I'm willing to travel up to 300 miles from Fishers IN for a good used motor. I don't want to pay for a rebuilt one because I plan on getting a rebuilt 390 and transmission for the car in 2 years. I'm willing to consider a 302, but really want a 351W. The motor will be going into a 1964 Ford Galaxie. It has a 351W in it right now, but it is useless. I believe the transmission is a C4.

Check with salvage yards; I strongly advise NOT go with the 302, you will be disappointed! Loved the 390 ( had a 1965 T-Bird w/ 390 ) !

Check craigslist, you can get a 90's model 351w for a few hundred bucks up to around $750. Itll need to be converted to carb.
if you consider a 302, buy the 86 to 95 block and convert to carb. The 351 intake don't work for you. Good luck, i'm in the same dillema. I'm looking for a 94-6 351w, and an aod out of 80's to 90's ford anything lol. I could get a good buy if i just get the earlier 351 but i want the roller block. I'm actually considering going to a buy here pay here rent a wreck car lot to buy an old towncar or crown vic as a donor and just build a 302

  • What's a good year to buy a used 4cyl Ford Ranger for around or less than $2000? I'm in the market for a used ford ranger. I'm looking for the extended cab with a 4cyc engine. I've got less than $2000 to spend, my question is what's a good year to look for with that engine, and maybe some bad years to avoid? Btw, I live in los angeles, CA. So I'm not worried about rust, or it being to old, if it was maintained well is the main thing. I know at that price range I can't expect much.
