What would be a good first car to get that you can get used
Like, ford fusion, camri, civic, etc.
Added (1). These are just some examples, this is my first car and I'm not sure what to look for.
Depends where you live and what you do. I need a ute so I can put my bike in to go MTB riding or to mow other peoples lawns. Others just need to get to the other side of town
Civics used to be almost bulletproof… Not so much anymore. The latest Consumer Reports car issue rates the current Civic (2017) reliability as "poor". I would probably avoid newer model used Civics (just my opinion).
Edit: the absolute worst car I've ever owned was 98 Nissan Sentra that I bought new. That thing was such a p.o.s. That I will never buy another Nissan product again.
Tesla Model S
its the most safest production car
There's no such car. You buy a car that suits your needs. If you do many short trips you buy a city car. If you plan to drive 100 miles regularly you choose a larger, more comfortable car. If you wish to save money you select a small engined diesel. Asian cars tend to be technically superior to others. European cars tend to use less fuel than American cars. You need to test drive the car and take someone with knowledge with you.
Consumer Reports prints a "Buyers Guide" once a year and one month out of the year does a special on buying a used car. They have a list of cars by price which should prove to be reliable and there's also an avoid list. The school library and public library where you live more then likely has a hard copy in the reference section.
Reliability is one issue, crash worthiness should also be a consideration. But don't overlook things like insurance cost. The Honda Civic for example is one of the most stolen cars in the US. So insurance for that reason alone can make what seems like a good price actually be bad. I can insure my Miata for less then I can insure a Honda Civic and that is a fact.
My recommendation is a Subaru Outback! They handle well, get good mileage, are reliable and can handle any weather situation short of a ice rink. They have reasonable acceleration rates.
The major issue is maintenance! I have owned a few cars in my life and have owned what others called lemons. But for me they were fine because I kept up on things like spark plugs, wires, oil and antifreeze. So much depends on car care, like washing not just the top of the car but also cleaning the underside.
Some years of the Ford Fusion are also dependable and easy to drive. The Ford Fusion would be my second choice. The Mazda 6 is a close relative to it and also for most years a good to great car. Some places the Mazda 6 will be cheaper then the Ford Fusion. Subaru cars are often difficult to find used because the owners love them.
Honda Civic is a very popular first car, for a lot of good reasons.

- Do you think a Ford Ranger would be good for me? (first vehicle)? I'm 17 and have 3000 saved up to buy a vehicle. I was looking at a 4.0L V6 Ford Ranger. Do you think that engine can support a dirt bike or a quad (not at the same time) in the bed or is that pushing it. Should I go with a F-150? I only want a truck so I can put my dirt bike/quad in the back and got o my friends house and ride.
- I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?
- What used car can I get that would stand out under $7000 I'm a senior in high school and me and my parents are going half and half on a car. I want to get a used car that stands out from others but isn't over $7000. Cars I've already considered are the Dodge Dart, Honda Accord Coupe, Volkswagen CC Sport, Ford Fusion '10, Nissan Altima Coupe, Chrysler 300. Any other suggestions? If you can't help going over the $7000 range please don't exceed $8000.
