Read the instructions and see if the scanner has the correct protocol for reading ford codes
Some cheap scanners will only read certain manufacturers so read the requirements and the recommended vehicles that it will work on
OBD II didn't start until the 1996 model year. If you didn't know that i doubt you'll be fixing your vehicle.
Not all scanners read all manufactures codes as they need to 'talk' to onboard ECU etc. We may simply have wrong sort of scanner. I assume we do have the OBD. Connection socket we plug into?
