Thoughts on what's wrong with the car and how much it would cost to get repaired?
The car is a 2002 Ford Jaguar. It has been shaking roughly, misfiring, and have a hard time getting the car to start. I believe this is because of the spark plugs needing to be changed. The tail pipe needs to be welded and clamps have to be put on which makes the car sound like it's rattling. I'm not exactly sure if these are the only problems though. The car is having problems and lacks a get up and go and takes a long time just to reach 40 mph. I think there might be something wrong with the fuel injector or something because it does not hold gas well at all. A fuel tank barely gets me through 22 miles. It also sounds like a derby car which I think is probably the tail pipe s lack of clamps.
You own a very old classic car. Jaguars need maintaining. This car, from what you say, has been neglected. Try to find a mechanic that specialises in Jaguars and ask him to investigate and list the problems. Then deal with the important items first. Your car should exceed 100 mph with ease.
Needs a mechanic. $75 to diagnose where I live.Plugs for sure.Sounds like at least one cylinder is not firing -- could be plugs, spark wires, fuel supply
and get the exhaust fixed… Those things leak poison [carbon monoxide] and you need that to be away from the driver and passengers
You'll need to get a mechanic to diagnose it. The plugs will need to be checked. I have a feeling that it could be a bad sensor. Jaguars are one of the worst European cars out there if you ever wonder why they depreciate so fast.
Any mechanic HAS TO SEE IT. THEY do not work on guesses.
You need maintenance right? You take care or yourself, right?
The car is your HORSE. It need maintenance and you are not giving it any… So the Frucker will die somewhere and leave you stranded.(like a rainy night on a bridge in the middle of no where so TOW TRUCK cost will be HIGH). The car seems to know when to die… At the worst time.
. Avoid the tow truck cost and the penalty of stalling on a bridge when that money could be used to pay a MECHANIC to tune up the car and fix it right.
. Driving it into the ground does not benefit you. Resale value=$0. There's a LOT wrong with your car. When you can only do 40 in a car that can do 140, then you know something is OFF.
. Chances are you got no brakes either and that is NUMBER 1 TO FIX, fixing the exhaust is simple, so is changing the spark plugs and giving it an engine turne up.
. Any car will run with only half of the engine working. Meaning a 6 cylinder will run on 3 and do 60MPH. Fuel economy is about what the car gets. Not much better.
Jag is a V6 so either on 3 cylinders or 2; and you do not think it is important? You have no right to quibble, moan and complain.
You got to do the work if you want to win the race. The exhaust fix is just for your health and not to arose the noise police for a fine.
Jags have always been effed up as far as reliability is concerned, but fun to drive after a repair.
- Is it possible to get a new transmission for an older car, if so, how much would it cost? I'm looking at buying a 2003 Ford Taurus with 85,000 miles on it. No, there are no transmission problems. I'm just thinking that if it were done now, that could add a lot of life onto the vehicle. And it would make sense because my estimate is that a new transmission is less that what this car is worth. The car is 5K.
- What might be wrong with my electrical system in my 1996 mustang gt and how much does it cost? I just bought a 1996 ford mustang gt it runs well but the dashboard caught fire for whatever reason on the previous owner. The tail lights and dash lights don't work and there's no radio or speakers. How can i fix this?
- About how much would it cost to get a paint job on my car? I got a 2007 ford mustang, I bought it used for a really good price, i'm looking to change the color of it though. Its royal blue right now but my end goal is white with 2 black stripes, and black rims. I realize this will be pricey, but can someone give me an honest quote?
- Is a dealership the best place to get my car repaired? I have a 2014 Ford vehicle that I haven't even had for a year yet. Someone rear ended me and now I have to take it in to repair the damage. The other persons insurance is covering the cost. Since the car is not even a year old, I want to make sure that I get OEM parts installed. Is taking it to the Ford Dealership my best bet or will I be fine taking it to a respected independent? I just want to make sure I get it back the same way it was before.
