Why won't the doors to my 2005 ford taurus latch in cold weather?

Why won't the doors to my 2005 ford taurus latch in cold weather?

The latches mechanism INSIDE the doors are frozen OPEN…

Try adjusting the aliment. Cold weather shrinks metal

Lube the catch mechanism. Wd40.

The latch is probably jammed with ice. Try spraying it with WD-40 or a similar moisture resistant spray lube.

Moisture in the door latch mechanism. Thaw the latch mechanism in the door out with a hair dryer. Then open the door window and soak down the latch mechanism with WD-40 through the straw down the window opening.

Lube the mechanism with lithium grease.

Stick "some" WD40 into the key lock of the door and give it a GOB size squirt.(as WD40 stinks) and then work the lock with the key. Maybe at the present time it is keyed open and the springs won't pull it back. It is something someone HAS TO LOOK AT TO KNOW WHERE THE PROBLEM IS.
So, if yer eyes don't work, give it to someone who can see and figure it out… Is the way I would go… Somebody with a mechanical aptitude.

  • Why is the A/C on 2002 Ford Taurus is not blowing cold air My freon is fine but when I have the A/C on max the motor engages intermittently. Should the motor run constantly while the A/C is on high? If it doesn't, any idea what could be wrong? Coincidentally, a squeal from the belt started when I started to use the A/C. It squeals when I accelerate, whether the A/C is on or not.
  • My car won't start in very cold weather! What's wrong with it and what's the solution? I've got a Ford Taurus 2003. When it gets very cold about = it cranks but won't start. There's no problem with the battery and the cables are tightened and fixed. However when I open the fuse box and move the fuses up and down and push them down real hard it starts just as normal. Any ideas?
  • Ford Taurus 2004 driver side rear door replacement: are all model doors interchangeable? I need to get a door from the auto salvage yard and first need to find out if it matters if I get the door off of a SE or SEL or SES etc.
  • Check engine light comes on when the weather gets cold So I have a 2004 Ford Taurus SE and I bought it around a year ago. Now, every time the weather gets below around 50 or so the Check Engine light will turn on. But when it warms up to 55+ it'll turn back off. I use the system check in the car with the buttons and it says everything's okay. It'll probably shut off in 2 or 3 days, just wondering what's going on and how to make it stop?
